Andrew Schumann
University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow

Brief Bio
Andrew Schumann is a Head of the Departament of Cognitivistics at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow, Poland. His research focuses on logic and philosophy of science with an emphasis on non-well-founded phenomena: self-references and circularity. He contributed mainly to research areas such as reasoning under uncertainty, probability reasoning, non-Archimedean mathematics, as well as their applications to cognitive science. He is engaged also in unconventional computing, decision theory, logical modelling of economics.
Jerzy Król
University of Information Technology and Management
Poland

Brief Bio
Jerzy Król has habilitation on theoretical physics (University of Silesia, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, 2014), a PHD on physics (University of Silesia, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, 2005) and a MSc in mathematics (University of Maria Curie Sklodowska in Lublin, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, 1988). His scientific interests focus on various fields of theoretical and mathematical physics and pure mathematics. They range from fundations of mathematics, set theory, category theory to differential geometry of smooth manifolds in dimensions 3 and 4 in mathematics and applications of these fields to physics, particularly quantum mechanics and theory of gravitation. Recently, together with Andrew Schumann, Krzysztof Bielas and Pawel Klimasara (also from WSIZ) they obtained interesting results in computational complexity and degrees of randomness realised by black holes and biological swarms. He cooperates tightly with Michal Heller in the field of category theory and Torsten Asselmeyer-Maluga in exotic smoothness of 4-manifolds and its applications to physics.

SCOPE

The workshop on Novel Computational Paradigms, Methods and Approaches in Bioinformatics brings together computer scientists and engineers dealing with developing novel approaches to modeling and simulating biological systems (such as quantum, bio-inspired, chemical, etc. computing) to initiate development of novel bio- and nature-inspired computation paradigms. The workshop aims to exchange ideas, promote fruitful discussions and initiate development on novel paradigms, methodologies and architectures for unconventional computations as well as for applications of computational intelligence in the wide and heterogeneous fields of biology, biomechanics, medicine and health care. It can provide to take a critical glance at the design of novel and emergent computing systems to point out failures and shortcomings of both theoretical and experimental approaches.
