Brief Bio
Andrew Schumann is a Head of the Departament of Cognitivistics at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow, Poland. His research focuses on logic and philosophy of science with an emphasis on non-well-founded phenomena: self-references and circularity. He contributed mainly to research areas such as reasoning under uncertainty, probability reasoning, non-Archimedean mathematics, as well as their applications to cognitive science. He is engaged also in unconventional computing, decision theory, logical modelling of economics.
Jerzy Król
University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow
Brief Bio
Jerzy Król graduated in mathematics (1998) and received his PhD on Physics in 2005 from University of Silesia at Katowice, Poland. Then, he worked at University of Silesia and became a professor of the university. From the end of 2019 he has become a member of the Department of Cognitive Science and Mathematical Modeling at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów, Poland where he currently works. His interests range from foundations of mathematics and physics, category theory, quantum gravity, quantum mechanics, differential geometry and topology of dimensions 3 and 4 with the applications to physics. Recently, together with Andrew Schumann, they have made certain attempts to apply methods of categories and toposes into biological systems like swarms. Jerzy Król authored numerous papers and book’s chapters.


The workshop on Novel Computational Paradigms, Methods and Approaches in Bioinformatics brings together computer scientists and engineers dealing with developing novel approaches to modeling and simulating biological systems (such as quantum, bio-inspired, chemical, etc. computing) to initiate development of novel bio- and nature-inspired computation paradigms. The workshop aims to exchange ideas, promote fruitful discussions and initiate development on novel paradigms, methodologies and architectures for unconventional computations as well as for applications of computational intelligence in the wide and heterogeneous fields of biology, biomechanics, medicine and health care. It can provide to take a critical glance at the design of novel and emergent computing systems to point out failures and shortcomings of both theoretical and experimental approaches.
