Title:

Research of the Method for Assessing Facial Phenotypic Features from 2D Images in Medical Genetics

Authors:

V. S. Kumov, A. V. Samorodov, I. V. Kanivets, K. V. Gorgisheli and V. G. Solonichenko

Abstract: The paper proposes and investigates the phenotypic facial features recognition method based on facial points coordinates on a reconstructed 3D facial image. The accuracy of the determination of phenotypic features was investigated. The method recognizes phenotypic features with an accuracy of 84 % to 100 %. The method has been tested on open and own databases of facial images of patients with hereditary diseases. A criterion for the forming a risk group for Williams syndrome was proposed based on the summation of the absolute values of z-scores of phenotypic features. On own database, the criterion provides an AUC value of 0.922 for the separation of the Williams syndrome and the norm.

Title:

Authors:

Inna Korneeva, Kristina Kramar, Evgeniia Semenova and Zafar Yuldashev

Abstract: The development results of the system for remote monitoring of pregnant women's health state and pregnancy complications prediction are discussed. A set of diagnostically significant indicators has been substantiated and formed to assess the current state, monitoring and control of pregnant women health and prediction of pregnancy complications. Four groups of indicators showing the functioning of cardiovascular and endocrine systems of the body, biochemical urine indicators, and indicators taking into account subjective assessment of the pregnancy course have been identified. To assess these indicators, a set of biomedical signals is proposed, signal acquisition tools and an automated questionnaire of a pregnant woman was suggested according to experts’ recommendations. A method for forming an integral assessment by groups of indicators, considering the risk of pregnancy complications and weight of a diagnostically significant indicator, and a method for short-term predicting of pregnancy complications based on the dynamics analysis of various groups of integral indicators are developed. An experimental sample of the system was developed and its individual functions were clinically tested in order to assess the correctness of the proposed solutions. The results of the approbation are discussed.

Study of the Optical Properties of Biological Tissues Quantitative Assessment Possibility using Spatial-Frequency Domain Imaging

Authors:

Alexander V. Kolpakov, Yuliya V. Ivanova, Svetlana A. Yushina and Anastasia S. Semenova

Abstract: The paper is devoted to the study of the possibility of using spatial-frequency domain imaging (SFDI) technology in the tasks of visualizing neurovascular structures in the brain tissue during endosurgical intervention, as well as the detection and objective quantitative assessment of lesions in the tissues of the oral cavity. As a result of the initial stage of experimental studies in vivo, it was shown that SFDI allows tracking the dynamics of optical parameters of tissues as a result of changes in blood filling and is potentially applicable for detecting subsurface optical inhomogeneities in tissues.

Title:

Assessment of Parkinson’s Disease Severity based on Automatic Analysis of Facial Expressions and Motor Activity of the Hands

Authors:

Abstract: Assessment of the severity of the disease is an important task in the study of Parkinson's disease. Using non-contact methods for assessing the motor activity of patients, quantitative assessments of motor parameters were obtained, including the assessment of facial expressions and the motor activity of the hands of patients with PD. The study involved 18 patients with PD, whose facial expressions and the motor activity of the hands assessed using the MDS-UPDRS scale by neurologist. In this paper, a regression model was developed that allows to predict the total MDS-UPDRS scores for 3 hand movement exercises with R2 0.781 and RMSE 0.893 based on 5 features of motor activity. To predict the MDS-UPDRS scores, the classification problem is also solved. The patient group was divided into 2 groups according to the severity of the disease based on the fitting of a cut-off value, which is the median value of the MDS-UPDRS scores. The feature space was reduced to 4 using PCA. The best classification result 95% was obtained using logistic regression and support vector machine in a 5-fold cross-validation mode.

Possibilities of Applying Non-invasive Multichannel Electrical Stimulation Technology for Treatment Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Post COVID-19 Condition

Authors:

Timur Petrenko, Anna Petrenko and Vladimir Kublanov

Abstract: The possibilities of using multichannel neuroelectrostimulation of nerve formations in the neck for the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders arising from the Post Covid-19 condition are considered. Three clinical cases of the use of such technology, implemented in the device "SYMPATHOCOR-01", are presented. All patients were previously diagnosed with coronavirus infection of varying severity. The patients' condition was assessed clinically and based on psychometric scales: depression - HDRS and BDI-II, anxiety - SPRAS, asthenia - MFI-20. The duration of the disease was 4-6 months. The course of treatment was three weeks. All patients showed marked positive clinical dynamics. The proposed methods of hardware treatment of Post COVID-19 condition can be implemented in telemedicine projects for the provision of services in real time, which minimizes the contact between doctor and patient, and undoubtedly may be in demand in the future post-pandemic society.

An Automatic Intravenous Drug Injection System

Authors:

Inna P. Korneeva, Kristina A. Kramar, Matvey I. Zabudko and Elena N. Shalobyta

Abstract: The report describes the development of an automatic intravenous drug injection system to a patient in the absence of medical personnel near him. A list of pathological conditions has been determined, upon the occurrence of which the immediate administration of drugs is required. Instrumental research methods are proposed, the use of which makes it possible to carry out intravenous injection in an automatic mode. The results of the implementation of modules of the injection system using the component base of mechatronics and electronics are discussed. A generalized block diagram of the developed system is presented.
