Authors:

Vladimir Kublanov, Konstantin Retyunskiy, Timur Petrenko and Mikhail Babich

Abstract: The article discusses the problem of the neuropsychiatric health deterioration in the face of new challenges to humanity: the complication of the scientific and technical environment and the technosphere, social relations in society against the background of an increase in the duration of a person's active life, as well as the relevance of the development of neurorehabilitation technologies for restoring human health in these conditions. The paper presents a review of the evolution of the technology of transcutaneous neuroelectrostimulation from ancient times to modern technologies, transcranial electrical stimulation, electrical stimulation of cranial nerves, spinal cord and neck nerve structures. The prospects of a mobile hardware and software system for polyfactorial neurostimulation and its potential for use in personalized medicine are considered. Possibilities of promising medical technologies for homeostatic regulation, capable of modulating autonomic processes, influencing motor control and cognitive functions are discussed.

Title:

Development of a Method for Identifying the Functional State of a Person When Solving Cognitive Tasks According to the Data of the Brain Microwave Radiation

Authors:

Anton Yu. Dolganov, Mikhail V. Babich, Timur S. Petrenko and Vladimir S. Kublanov

Abstract: The article described a technique for conducting experimental studies using passive non-invasive thermography in radio bands to study the effect of changes in the psychophysiological state on a person's radio-brightness temperature. The registration of the radio-brightness temperature signals was carried by contact microwave radiometer, which ensures the reception of brain microwave radiation in the frequency range (3.4-4.2) GHz. A data processing algorithm for detecting stable characteristics of patterns in changes in brightness temperature fluctuations, based on continuous wavelet transform, was proposed. A total of 18 parameters were used to estimate the brightness temperature fluctuations. In this study, two machine learning methods were tested that allow the selection of the most significant features: logistic regression using L1-regularization and the decision tree method. The accuracy of determining the functional state on the training data reached 90%. It was shown that the parameter of microwave radiation fluctuations – the median value of the amplitude of fluctuations with fluctuation periods from 40 to 80 s, makes it possible to divide the initial data sample into two subgroups in which the response to cognitive load is significantly different.

Title:

Method for Quantitative Assessment of the Eyes Pulse Blood Flow with Linear Axisymmetric Model

Authors:

Sergey B. Kazakov, Petr V. Luzhnov and Irina D. Davydova

Abstract: The work examines a linear axisymmetric model of the eyes pulse blood flow. The main purpose of the model is the determination of mathematical dependence of linear changes in the eye thickness of vascular layer with the pulse. The main parameter is the volume of the input eye pulsation of blood flow. Ocular hemodynamic parameters depend from various individual anatomical values of a patient's eye. In the paper all assumptions of axisymmetric model are described. Calculations of the mathematical dependence equation are based on geometric parameters of the eyeball. The analytical expression of volume changes in the measuring ophthalmoplethysmography is presented. Accordance to our calculations, linear change in the eyeball layers thickness varies within tens and units of microns after the input blood pulse volume. Advanced technical methods that can register such a small range of length units are considered. Such a registration and subsequent analysis of micro-displacement data will allow diagnosing different pathological states of the eye hemodynamic in ophthalmology and neurology.

Abstract: Correlation analysis of magnetic resonance voxel-based morphometric parameters of patients with multiple sclerosis before and after high-dose immunosuppressive therapy with transplantation of autologous hematopoietic stem cells (HDIT + AHSCT). The use of MR-morphometry methods makes it possible to quantitatively and objectively changes of the volume and size of the structures of the brain and cerebellum in patients with MS. We observed 10 patients with MS (3 men, 7 women) who underwent HDIT + AHSCT, and MRI studies were performed before and after transplantation. After postprocessing of MRI data and statistic analyses of morphometry parameters some changes were accrued: some patients showed negative dynamics in white and grey mater volumes and decrease of the absolute volume of the thalamus. Also, study showed positive dynamics in reducing the number of new MS lesions. These results can be associated with the result of treatment, with a local decrease in edema and inflammation. Study showed the need for dynamic MR control of the grey and white matter of the brain and subcortical structures with the help of MR morphometry.

Abstract: Clinical and neuroimaging comparison of the dynamics of changes in the pain connectome against the background of osteopathic correction in patients with chronic tension-type headaches. We examined 24 patients with chronic tension type headaches, aged 24 to 43 years. Patients underwent resting-state functional MRI before and after first osteopathic manipulation. Complaints were evaluated and patients were surveyed to assess the intensity of headache and its impact on different areas of life, quality of life, situational and personal anxiety before and after therapy. Changes in the functional connectivity of the in patients with tension headaches after osteopathic manipulation were found to correlate with a positive clinical picture. Changes in the functional connections of the medial prefrontal cortex with other areas of the brain were detected in patients with chronic tension-type headaches when using a single osteopathic correction. There was an improvement in the condition of patients both in the subjective assessment of complaints and in the objective assessment of their condition on scales. The use of methods for statistical analysis of neuroimaging data, in particular resting-state functiontional MRI, made it possible to see the differences objectively by mapping different colors using color scales, which greatly simplifies the entire analytical process. Clinical and neuroimaging comparison of the dynamics of changes in the pain connectome against the background of osteopathic correction in patients with chronic tension-type headaches provides potentially new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of pain syndrome.

Title:

The Application of Multichannel Neuro-electrostimulation for Working Memory and Attention Improvement of Young Subjects

Authors:

Anna Petrenko and Vladimir Kublanov

Abstract: The paper discusses the possibilities of using multichannel neuro-electrostimulation method to improve the characteristics of attention and working memory of young subjects. It was shown that the results of the test for assessment of working memory and attention in the experimental group with the use of neuro-electrostimulation was higher than those in the control and placebo groups. In addition, during the processing of the functional studies data, such heart rate variability parameters were obtained, the dynamics of which reflects the positive effect of neuro-electrostimulation. It was found that the effect of neuro-electrostimulation affects the formation of increased activity of the sympathetic nervous system of the body due to the intensification of the action of energy processes.
